Summary

The candidate would become part of Oliver Wyman’s Banking & Financial Services practice, and will be part of a team that will work hand in hand with the wider OW European partners and experts to develop business and to help clients solve their most complex and ambitious endeavors on topics such as finance and risk strategy, end-to-end credit transformations, capital accuracy and models, smart pricing, strategic planning and financial resource management, as well as artificial intelligence and risk modeling engagements (working alongside Oliver Wyman Data and Analytics specialists).

Required

  • +5 years of relevant experience in Consulting or Banking
  • Excellent team management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient English and Spanish
  • Data and analytics skills are positively considered

Practice Overview

Banking & Financial Services (including our Capability Practice “Finance and Risk”) is the cornerstone of Oliver Wyman’s reputation as a leader in finance and risk management. The following list is a sample of the topics our recent work has focused on, spanning the full spectrum from governance and organization to more detailed technical and regulatory work (experience on at least one of these topics is required):

  • Strategy & corporate finance (market entry, growth, M&A, portfolio optimization)
  • Transformation programs, strategic plan definition
  • Finance, Risk & regulation (credit, market, operational, capital & liquidity, stress testing)
  • Digital, data & technology (platform modernization, cloud, data strategy, AI/ML)
  • Operations & cost transformation (process redesign, FTE reduction, target operating models)
  • Customer & proposition design (retail, wealth, commercial banking, payments)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • You will break down complex problems into discrete tasks, identifying the key aspects of a problem and directing the focus of junior consultants to those elements.
  • You will effectively plan and execute analysis as well as identify the core issues in complex analyses in order to be able to craft suitable recommendations.
  • You will work side by side with clients and your project team members to move projects forward and manage small teams to get the work done.
  • Clients and colleagues look to Associates for unique insight into the subject area which they have chosen.

Your Attributes and Experience

Clients hire Oliver Wyman for specialized expertise, the ideal candidate will have most of the following:

  • 3-6 years of relevant experience, ideally with leading consulting firm(s) focused on Financial Services and/or experience with banks (General Inspection) or FinTechs
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in STEM, finance, or economics from a top university
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with the ability to adjust your style to suit different perspectives and seniority levels
  • Fluent business English and Spanish
  • Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel to clients worldwide
  • Track record of delivering results in a cross-functional, high-growth, and fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work fluidly and respectfully with our incredibly talented team

Nice to have:

  • Industry expertise in banking with previous experience working for credit risk and finance areas
  • CFA (or other relevant industry certifications) or MBA from a top-tier university
