Citi Placement Analysts - UK Corporate Broking Team
Citi is looking for placement analysts to join the UK Corporate Broking team in London, from February 2027. Corporate Broking is a core part of our UK Investment Banking franchise and is at the heart of Citi’s coverage of blue-chip clients, focusing primarily on FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies. Corporate Broking is a unique role within investment banking, combining the skill-set of corporate finance with a strong understanding of global equity markets and what is driving them.
About the Role
Our work is fast-paced and varied, and no day is the same. Our responsibilities range from keeping our clients well-informed on the latest developments driving their share prices, to advising them on raising funds in the capital markets or executing IPOs and/or Mergers & Acquisitions. Our competitive edge is based on building trusted relationships with our clients at the Board, CEO, and CFO level, allowing us to bring the full capabilities of Citi’s global platform to bear in helping them achieve their strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Keeping up to date on the latest news, developments, and trends that are driving equity markets by using the intelligence of Citi’s global equities platform, communicating that information to clients.
- Developing an understanding of how companies are viewed and valued by institutional investors through speaking to some of the most important mutual fund and hedge fund managers.
- Building financial models, assessing valuation, and exploring transaction opportunities for clients.
- Conducting research and analyzing industry trends.
- Helping to strengthen clients’ shareholder base by conducting analysis on potential new investors.
- Participating in client development by having an active role in building new and existing client relationships, and assisting in the presentation of new ideas to clients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
