Banking Lawyer (VP)

Investment Bank
London

A leading global bank is looking for a commercially minded banking lawyer to join its Legal team as Vice President. You'll provide English law advice for the bank's corporate client business across the EMEA region, covering bilateral and syndicated loans, guarantees, and a broad range of corporate and transaction banking products, including bespoke structures beyond standard LMA lending.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The role also covers legal support for the Loan Capital Markets (Distribution) desk, trade finance matters (guarantees, letters of credit, bonds, cash management), and an intra-group capital risk transfer scheme, while liaising with Head Office and other group entities on general English law matters.

What we're looking for:

  • Qualified solicitor, 3-4 years' PQE, from an international bank or law firm banking practice
  • Strong technical expertise in corporate banking law, including LMA documentation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Sound commercial judgment and ability to work independently
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and culturally aware, comfortable working across jurisdictions
