An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Officer to join a leading international banking group, within its Wholesale Banking Operations team.
This is a broad and varied banking operations role offering exposure across payments, financial crime controls, treasury settlements, reconciliations, operational risk and customer service.
Location: London
Salary: up to £40K
This is an office-based role
The Role
You will play an important role in ensuring the accurate, timely and controlled processing of financial transactions.
Duties will include:
- Processing and checking payments through SIBS, SWIFT Alliance, PT-X Bottomline and BACSTEL-iP
- Monitoring transactions in line with financial crime and first-line-of-defence controls
- Reviewing payment screening alerts and identifying potential financial crime risks or suspicious activity
- Escalating relevant alerts to Compliance and supporting CDD/trigger-event reviews
- Supporting SAR escalation and reporting where required
- Supporting treasury settlements, including SWIFT instructions and MUREX entries
- Supporting BACS payment processing
- Investigating Nostro/Vostro reconciliation breaks and intersystem variances
- Producing MI and supporting operational risk and control testing

Skills/experience required:
- Previous experience within banking operations, payments, treasury, financial services, AML/KYC, transaction processing or a regulated environment would be advantageous, as would exposure to SWIFT, BACS or other payment platforms.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- A willingness to learn new financial and banking systems
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
