Your new role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified accountant to join a major financial services organisation undergoing a significant finance and technology transformation programme. Working at the intersection of Finance, Technology and Operations, you will play a key role in shaping future state finance processes, ensuring accounting treatments, financial data flows and ledger structures align with business requirements and regulatory expectations.
You will act as a finance subject-matter expert throughout the transformation life cycle, supporting accounting design, validating financial outputs, reviewing accounting logic and helping to ensure the successful implementation of a new core banking platform. This role offers exposure to a broad range of banking products and senior stakeholder engagement across multiple functions.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience within banking or financial services finance functions.
- Knowledge of lending, treasury, trade finance and capital markets products.
- Experience supporting finance transformation, systems implementation or change programmes.
- Strong understanding of general ledger structures, sub-ledger accounting and financial controls.
- Experience reviewing accounting rules, posting logic, reconciliations and financial reporting processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
- Exposure to testing, data migration, process design or control validation activities would be advantageous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
