About us

Part of Iconic Hotels and Resorts, The Lensbury is located on the Banks of the River Thames at Teddington and is home to an exclusive leisure club, a 155 bedroom hotel, meeting and events space, restaurant and bar, Spa and 25 acres of gardens and grounds. Our Food & Beverage offering includes our private Members' Lounge as well as an all-day dining Restaurant and Bar which are open to residents and members.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead all beverage operations across The Lensbury. With overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of all bars, beverage service areas, cellar management, beverage purchasing, stock control, GP performance and bartender development, the jobholder will work closely with outlet managers and the wider Food & Beverage team. to ensure consistently high standards of beverage quality, service, compliance and profitability across the resort. This is a hands-on operational role requiring strong leadership, excellent product knowledge and a proactive approach to stock control, training and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of the bars and beverage service areas across the resort.
  • Support outlet managers and supervisors with beverage-related operational requirements.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of beverage promotions and seasonal offerings.
  • Take ownership of all beverage stock across the business and complete monthly beverage stock takes.
  • Monitor stock movement and minimise wastage.
  • Work closely with managers to improve stock accountability across all outlets.
  • Manage beverage ordering for Restaurant & Bar; and support all other operational departments with their ordering and requisitioning needs.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels whilst controlling stock value.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with beverage suppliers.
  • Liaise with brewers, wine suppliers and drinks representatives.
  • Support negotiation of supplier agreements and promotional support opportunities.
  • Identify new products and trends to enhance the beverage offering.
  • Take overall responsibility for cellar operations and standards
  • Manage beverage costs and drive profitability across all beverage operations.
  • Monitor beverage gross profit performance.
  • Analyse sales trends and identify opportunities to improve revenue.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensure consistently high beverage quality and presentation standards.
  • Support managers, supervisors and teams in delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws and company procedures.
  • Promote responsible alcohol service at all times.

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Bar Manager or Senior Bar Supervisor in a hotel, club, leisure, or hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Experience managing stock control, ordering and cost management.
  • Working knowledge of licensing legislation and H&S requirements.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Desirable

  • Personal Licence Holder
  • Experience within a hotel, conference, events, or members' club
  • WSET qualification or strong wine and beverage knowledge
  • First Aid qualification
