About the Role

Chipping Sodbury Golf Club is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and customer-focused Bar Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our bar and hospitality service.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming atmosphere, delivering excellent customer service, and working as part of a friendly club environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring members, guests, and visitors receive a consistently high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the bar.
  • Provide a warm, friendly, and professional service to members, guests, and visitors.
  • Lead, motivate, and support the bar team, including organizing staff rotas and shifts.
  • Ensure the bar is fully stocked and appropriately presented at all times.
  • Manage stock levels, ordering, and deliveries while minimizing waste and maintaining good margins.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of cash handling and till procedures.
  • Ensure all licensing, health & safety, food hygiene, and other relevant legal requirements are followed.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and organization throughout the bar and associated areas.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
  • Support the organization and delivery of club events, functions, competitions, and social occasions.
  • Help develop the bar offering, including drinks menus, promotions, and special events.
  • Monitor sales and costs and work with club management to achieve agreed financial targets.
  • Deal confidently and professionally with customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints.
  • Ensure members and visitors receive a consistently positive experience.
  • Work closely with the wider club team to support the smooth running of the clubhouse.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a bar, hospitality, or licensed premises management role.
  • Is confident leading and motivating a team.
  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Is organized, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Has good commercial awareness and understands stock control, ordering, and margins.
  • Is comfortable working in a busy and sometimes fast-paced environment.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Is friendly, approachable, and professional.
  • Has a flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Has a good understanding of responsible alcohol service requirements.

Desirable

  • Previous experience managing a bar within a golf club, sports club, hotel, or similar members' organization.
  • Experience organizing functions, events, and private bookings.
  • Experience with stock management and EPOS/till systems.
  • Basic knowledge of health & safety and food hygiene requirements.
