Bar & Pub Manager | The Station House, Cheadle Hulme
We’re looking for a proper pub person to join the management team at The Station House. Someone who knows that a great pub is about more than simply serving drinks. It’s about the welcome at the bar, knowing your regulars, a well-kept pint, a cellar that’s looked after properly and creating the kind of atmosphere that makes people want to stay for another.
The Station House already has a busy and successful bar trade, and we think there’s an opportunity to make even more of it. We’re looking for someone with the personality, knowledge, and presence to take real ownership of that side of the pub.
The Role
Working as part of our existing management team, you’ll have a particular focus on our bar and wet trade.
- Be a visible presence on the floor and behind the bar, especially when the pub is at its busiest, helping us deliver brilliant service while developing the knowledge and confidence of the wider team.
- Take an active interest in how the bar performs – from product quality and cellar standards to stock, service, sales, and the overall guest experience.
- Responsible for things like:
- Maintaining excellent bar, beer, and cellar standards.
- Taking pride in the quality and consistency of every drink we serve.
- Supporting cellar management, stock rotation, and line-cleaning standards.
- Building knowledge and confidence around cask ale, beer, and our wider drinks range.
- Coaching the team to deliver knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient bar service.
- Getting to know our regulars and helping build a strong pub community.
- Spotting opportunities to grow wet sales and make more of key trading occasions.
- Leading busy shifts and supporting the wider management team.
- Maintaining great standards across the pub.
- Bringing ideas, energy, and a genuine passion for pubs.

Who We're Looking For
You might already be a Supervisor or Assistant Manager in a great pub, or an experienced bar person ready for your next step. Job titles matter less to us than your experience and attitude.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience working in a quality pub or bar environment.
- Good cask ale, beer, and cellar knowledge.
- Confidence running busy bar shifts.
- A natural, warm style with guests – someone who enjoys being front and centre in a pub.
- The confidence to coach others and raise standards.
- Good commercial awareness and an interest in growing sales.
- Pride in the small details that make a great pub feel like a great pub.
Most importantly, we want someone who genuinely enjoys pub life.
The Hours
We want to be upfront about this bit. The biggest opportunity for this role is when The Station House is at its busiest, so this isn’t a Monday-to-Friday management position. Your working pattern will include regular evenings, weekends, and key trading periods. In return, you’ll become an important part of an established management team rather than carrying the whole operation yourself, with the opportunity to really make the bar side of the business your own.
