The American Bar is the longest surviving cocktail bar in London and one of the most renowned in the world. Serving classics with a twist, new and vintage creations – the American Bar is an icon in cocktail history and has played host to legendary bartenders – historic figures such as Harry Craddock, author of The Savoy Cocktail Book, and Ada ‘Coley’ Coleman and now you. The American Bar first opened in 1893 and has since served countless well-known faces, from Winston Churchill to Ernest Hemingway. The dramatic jet-black and gold décor of the Beaufort Bar provides the perfect setting for glamour and luxury. It is the hidden gem in the hotel with a discreet entrance and a cool late night vibe. Open from Thursday to Saturday nights, with a DJ playing after dark, the Beaufort Bar is a glamourous location to enjoy creative cocktails, prestige spirits and rare vintages. The Beaufort Bar’s menu, takes guests on a journey across centuries and through flavours. Focusing on the finest wines and Champagnes, with cocktails created to evoke the very specific flavour bouquets of the Champagne region and a luxurious bar dining menu, Nocturne creates a night-time world of seduction and indulgence.
Both bars are led by Head of Bars Markus Basset.
Your Purpose Will Be:
To create a sophisticated and memorable experience for each and every guest who walks through the door no matter who they are. Whilst remembering the order and serving the correct drink is important, making an emotional connection with our guests and making their time in the bar memorable (in a good way) is most important.
You will be looking after several tables at once, talking with the guests, making recommendations if needed, as well as collaborating and clearly communicating with the host, bar, and management team to ensure a seamless five star experience for our guests.
Learning and following our 5 star standards will a requirement and key to your success; the expectation being that you will perform to measurable targets.
You will learn how to deliver 5 star hospitality, and you will be trained on service sequence and standards; as well as being expected within a reasonable timescale to be confident in your knowledge of our cocktails, champagnes, wines and food that we serve.
You will attend trainings and learn from other team members on a daily basis as well as being coached by your leader on the job.

Qualifications
What You Will Need to Do This Role:
Essential:
- 1-2 years serving or hosting experience in a luxury hospitality environment
- Passion for and understanding of 5 star hospitality and what it takes to deliver it
- Quick thinking, resourceful and able to solve problems ‘in the moment’
- Ability to remain calm and courteous at all times
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced and changing environment
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Willing to work in rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English
- Rights to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Basic knowledge of a POS System
- Basic knowledge of Open table
