The Venue

The Role

As a Bar Team Leader, you'll lead from the front to deliver exceptional guest experiences, ensuring the smooth operation of your bar area during events and service periods. You'll be responsible for supervising the team, maintaining high standards of service, stock and cash control, and creating a positive, high-performance environment where both guests and colleagues can thrive.

The Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the bar, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient service delivery and full guest satisfaction at all times.
  • Supervise, brief, train and coach team members throughout each shift, ensuring they are engaged, knowledgeable and delivering to company standards.
  • Demonstrate strong product knowledge, including beverages, menus, ingredients, allergens and service styles, while promoting products and supporting upselling opportunities.
  • Maintain operational control of stock, cash handling and till procedures, including troubleshooting till issues and ensuring accurate financial processes are followed.
  • Support service delivery by working alongside the team, serving drinks, taking orders, providing table service and assisting wherever required during busy periods.
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally, resolving issues quickly and escalating service or quality concerns where appropriate.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, licensing legislation, health & safety, hygiene standards and employment procedures, while working collaboratively with other departments to enhance the guest experience.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced bar environment, with strong knowledge of beverage service and hospitality operations.
  • A confident and approachable leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate, coach and support a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage stock, cash handling and operational procedures effectively.
  • A proactive, self-motivated individual who can use their own initiative, solve problems and remain calm under pressure.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences, with the confidence to handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally.
  • Knowledge of licensing laws and a commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety and compliance.
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work evenings, weekends and event days in a busy, high-energy environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
