Our Vacancy
We’re looking for a passionate and customer-focused Barista to join our coffee bar team at Darwin Court Community Centre. In this role, you’ll help deliver a high-quality and responsive retail service to all centre users, visitors, and employees. You’ll be at the heart of creating a welcoming environment, serving delicious drinks and food with enthusiasm and care. Whether it’s preparing a perfect espresso or keeping the coffee bar clean and well-stocked, you’ll play a key part in ensuring every customer enjoys a great experience.
This is a zero-hours contract position, providing cover for staff absence due to holiday or sickness. Hours will be offered on an as-needed basis. Guaranteed 4 hours per week.
What You’ll Do
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll:
- Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including espresso drinks, teas, and blended coffees
- Serve light food items such as muffins, paninis, and bagels
- Ensure the coffee bar area is clean, organised, and compliant with food hygiene standards
- Take customer orders, process payments, restock supplies, and help set up product displays
- Maintain equipment, check temperatures, and support health and safety practices in line with Peabody’s policies
- Take on roles such as Fire Warden or First Aider

What You’ll Need
- Previous experience in a hospitality or customer service environment
- A Level 2 food hygiene certificate or above (desirable)
- A passion for great food and drink, and delivering excellent customer service
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Flexibility to work additional paid hours when required.
