POSITION SUMMARY
As a Bartender at St Pancras, you are responsible for delivering a five-star beverage service. Our guests visit us with expectations of attentive yet relaxed service where your personality and professionalism are delivered in equal measures. The reality of your role and the responsibility you hold is that you can either make or break a guest experience depending on the service you provide. Product knowledge, menu knowledge, and the right amount of experience are absolutely essential for you to be successful in your role. We’re in the business of going above and beyond to create memorable moments for our guests and your role is key in executing this with every guest interaction.
Extraordinary Operations
- Every order taken, recommendation made, beverage pairing suggested, reflects your knowledge, experience, and ultimately your own reputation as a Bartending professional.
- Every guest interaction should be personalized and special—you can make this happen by taking ownership of each guest interaction, listening for cues, and following up on cues to deliver a memorable experience.
- If the guest asks for something, the phrase 'that’s not my job/ that’s not in my job description' doesn’t apply here or in any department in the hotel.
- There is no such thing as 'no' when it comes to a guest request—do what you need to do to meet the request (engage with other colleagues, departments, expertise) or at the very least, find alternatives to present back to the guest when all other options are exhausted.
- If you’re not feeling happy about something, you firstly need to take ownership to fix it. Try to resolve this yourself and then if you need to, speak to your department leader/HR.
Extraordinary Services
- Deliver an extraordinary guest service—personalized, fun, engaging, caring, attentive.
- Deliver and support the hotel and brand’s service standards at every moment, including knowledge of the hotel, its history, the Navigator, and the daily RWAY.
- Attend and actively participate in all required training sessions, including shift briefings, menu tasting, etc.
- There will be regular knowledge tests to be sure your knowledge is where it needs to be in a five-star environment.
- You are a role model for service and hospitality ensuring every guest is satisfied and will talk about their experience for years to come.
- You are responsible for operating within Marriott International’s policies and procedures and ensuring that you sign off the relevant declarations should cash, key, or card handling become a regular part of your role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
