Position Summary

To ensure guests' expectations are met or exceeded, by providing hospitable service, to ensure orders are accurate and service is effective and efficient. To maintain the bar, prepare and serve drinks. To assist the Bar Manager with the achievement of departmental goals.

Candidate Profile

Experience:

• Previous experience working within a Bar or similar environment preferred.

Education or Certification

• Good level of English essential

Specific Duties

1. To ensure that the bar is prepared and ready for service.
2. To greet all guests, using the guests’ name as often as possible.
3. To take orders, serve drinks to ensure that guests have a great experience in ‘The Luggage Room’. To assist in serving food as required.
4. To ensure that food and drinks are served in a consistent manner, in line with standard presentation, garnishes, etc.
5. To maintain the highest level of cleanliness, including safety of furniture, fixtures, and fittings. To ‘Clean as you go’ to ensure a clean and tidy work area, and to follow the routine bar cleaning schedule.
6. To ensure that the guests' bill is accurate and on the table at all times.
7. To ensure that payment is received from all guests and is posted through Micros. Confidential and Proprietary
8. To recommend and ‘sell’ to guests through menu knowledge, suggestive and up-selling techniques.
9. To be responsible for the safe keeping of all keys and bar area is locked upon completion of the shift.
10. To ensure that all food and beverage stuffs are correctly stored, dated, labelled, and rotated where necessary.
11. To control stocks of beverages, including inter-departmental transfers, tally, and usage sheets. Assist Restaurant Supervisors with monthly inventory counts.
12. To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene.
13. To ensure the Cashier Tally Sheets are accurate and any discrepancies are noted and signed by a supervisor. To enable Account and House charges are recorded accurately.
14. To maintain healthy inter-departmental relationships.
15. To adhere to the Licensing Laws and Weights and Measures Act.
16. To be empowered to deal with guest problems, through using the LEARN process, and seeking advice when unsure what to do.
17. To promote awareness of health and safety within the Bar for associates and guests. Example fire alert points, exits, extinguishers, table clips, etc.
18. To develop self and others, by responding to and giving feedback to other associates.
19. To carry out any other duty/function that may be assigned by immediate Supervisor, Manager, Department Head or Executive Committee member.
20. Responsible for the safe keeping of all keys.
