About Us

The Sheffield College is a further and higher education institution dedicated to providing academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 13,000 young people and adults annually. Our mission is to transform lives through learning, advocating for inclusivity and diversity at every stage.

About The Role

The Sheffield College is a large, vibrant and diverse further education college and we are proud of how the college contributes to transforming lives through learning by meeting local skills needs.

As a Basketball Coach, you’ll be responsible for the planning, delivery, and organisation of high-quality Basketball coaching sessions for students enrolled in the course at the College, in partnership with the Sheffield Elite Academy. The role involves working collaboratively to develop student athletes, both technically and personally, supporting progression into elite sport, further education, or employment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, safe, and progressive Basketball coaching sessions to students aged 16–19.
  • Plan and coordinate weekly training schedules, fixtures, and competitive games in collaboration with Sheffield Elite Academy staff and The Sheffield College curriculum team.
  • Monitor player development, performance, and welfare, ensuring holistic support for each student-athlete.
  • Contribute to player reviews, individual development plans (IDPs), and ensure progress is regularly tracked and recorded.
  • Support the academic and pastoral development of students by working closely with college staff.
  • Organise and manage travel, equipment, and logistics for training and match days.
  • Promote professionalism, discipline, and a positive team culture among players.
  • Attend relevant meetings, CPD opportunities, and represent the programme positively at internal and external events.
  • Comply with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity policies of The Sheffield College.

From time-to-time these responsibilities may be reviewed so that they evolve as part of the college’s strategic growth and success. You may also be required to take on other tasks related to the job to support the College in the delivery of its strategic aims, without changing the role's main purpose.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
