basketballpaisley is the largest amateur basketball club in Scotland, based in Paisley, Renfrewshire, and playing home games at the Lagoon Leisure Centre. Established in 1995, the club has achieved significant success in Scotland’s top leagues, winning over 100 national championships. With a membership of more than 400, basketballpaisley is focused on growing its presence in the local community and across Scotland and the UK. The club holds Gold Level Accreditation under Renfrewshire Active Schools guidelines and standards. Premier coaches at basketballpaisley typically hold Level 2 UKCC Basketball coaching awards or higher, reflecting a strong commitment to quality coaching and player development.
Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Basketball Coach role located in Renfrewshire. The Basketball Coach will plan and deliver training sessions for players of varying ages and skill levels, focusing on fundamental skills, team play, and game understanding.

Responsibilities include:

- Preparing practice plans
- Leading drills
- Coaching teams during games
- Providing constructive feedback to support player development
- Promoting a positive, inclusive environment
- Ensuring player safety
- Working collaboratively with other coaches and club staff
- Supporting club events
- Communicating with players and families
- Aligning coaching practices with basketballpaisley’s standards and goals
Typical coaching hours are:
- Monday: 5:00pm – 7:30pm
- Tuesday: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
- Wednesday: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
- Friday: 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Qualifications
- Coaching skills: Candidates should possess strong coaching skills, with practical experience leading teams or training groups.
- Basketball knowledge: Candidates should possess solid basketball knowledge, including rules, tactics, and player development principles.
- Communication skills: Candidates should possess effective communication skills to interact clearly with players, families, and staff.
- Training skills: Candidates should possess training skills in planning, organizing, and delivering structured practice sessions.
- Relevant coaching certifications: Relevant coaching certifications such as UKCC Level 2 Basketball or equivalent are highly beneficial.
- Experience: Experience working with youth or community sports programs and a commitment to inclusive, player-centered coaching are desirable.
- Availability: Ability to work on-site in Renfrewshire, including evenings or weekends as required by training and game schedules.
- First aid awareness or certification and knowledge of safeguarding practices: Are advantageous.
