Battery Service Engineer
TAB Battery UK | Field-based
We’re looking for a Battery Service Engineer to join our service team, carrying out the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of industrial batteries, chargers and associated equipment at customer sites.
We support customers across material handling, ground support equipment, cleaning machines and powered access. This is a hands-on role with a varied workload, working independently and alongside other engineers to keep our customers’ equipment running.
What you’ll be doing
- Installing and replacing batteries, cells, chargers and associated equipment.
- Carrying out routine servicing, battery topping, inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs on batteries and chargers.
- Testing and commissioning equipment following installation or repair.
- Completing clear, accurate job reports, recording work carried out, parts used and any further work required.
- Providing practical advice to customers on battery care, charging and maintenance.
- Identifying requirements for replacement equipment, repairs or additional servicing and passing these to the relevant team.
- Working closely with our Service Manager, service administration and technical team to keep jobs running smoothly.
- Supporting workshop activities and returns testing when required.
- Maintaining company tools, equipment and vehicles, including completing regular vehicle checks.
- Following company health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

What we’re looking for
- Experience in battery servicing, electrical or mechanical maintenance, or a similar engineering role.
- A practical approach to fault finding and problem solving.
- The ability to work independently, manage your workload and communicate clearly with colleagues.
- A friendly, professional manner and a commitment to good customer service.
- Attention to detail when completing job reports and recording parts used.
- A strong understanding of safe working practices.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites, with occasional overnight stays where required.
