About us:

Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.

Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.

Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

The Role:

Your role will be to support the delivery of the firm's Clients & Sectors strategy, working hand in hand with the Head of Sector Cluster, other BDM colleagues and Sector Leaders to support a focused and forward-looking Energy & Utilities sector strategy, aligned with the firm-wide strategic priorities, and aimed at growing profitable revenue through facilitating cross-selling and proactive client engagement, informed by sectoral trends and opportunities. The role will work closely with adjacent sectors, including Infrastructure and Private Capital, to identify cross-sector opportunities and deliver coordinated client strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support on executing a clear and focused Energy & Utilities sector strategy, aligned with firm-wide strategic priorities, and aimed at growing profitable revenue with Enterprise/Sector Priority clients in your sector.
  • Support the execution of Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure sector-specific BD and client-targeting initiatives, both internally and externally, with the intention that these are focused on the highest potential clients and opportunities. As part of that, work closely with various Business Development & Marketing (BDM) teams to support compelling go-to-market campaigns, ensure campaigns are aligned with BD priorities and effectively engage target clients.
  • Support CRM capabilities within the sector and provide timely and high-quality contributions regarding resourcing decisions on how to drive growth-generating initiatives against client plans with best use of BD technologies.
  • Develop and update key sector BD materials to support our commercial strategy and profile e.g. award and ranking submissions, core messaging, credentials, core pitching document, etc.
  • Support the use of data-led insights for opportunity spotting, pipeline management and client targeting, as well as continuous monitoring of market trends to assist in shaping Sector initiatives and goals.
  • Assist in the effective utilisation of MarTech and data infrastructure to provide proactive, targeted data to track the effectiveness of the sector strategy and sector-specific BD efforts.
  • Collaborate with Pitching & Product BD teams to support in the creation of compelling proposals that resonate with Sector-identified clients.
  • Build trusted relationships and work collaboratively with Sector Cluster BD Lead, Sector Leaders, Relationship Partners/client teams and partners in the sector and adjacent sectors to support cross-selling of core products and regions and go-to-market objectives.
  • Facilitate regular sector communication and best practice/information sharing with Partners/ client teams; where clients span multiple sectors, collaborate effectively to facilitate strong connectivity with Infrastructure, Private Capital and other sector teams, and a coordinated approach to client targeting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
