Casual, Seasonal Position

Hertfordshire Zoo is looking for enthusiastic, energetic and festive individuals to bring the magic of Christmas to life as Santa Claus at Hertfordshire Zoo in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.

What We Offer

This is much more than simply wearing the costume. You'll be at the heart of our brand-new Christmas experience, welcoming excited children, listening to Christmas wishes and helping every family create special festive memories.

What We're Looking For

You'll need to be:

  • Naturally warm, friendly and engaging with children and adults
  • Super enthusiastic, energetic and full of festive spirit
  • Calm, patient and professional, even during busy or challenging visits
  • Confident communicating with a wide range of guests and adapting to different situations
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to delivering an excellent visitor experience
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same

You Must Also

  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, as the site is not accessible by public transport
  • Have the existing right to live and work in the UK

Previous performance, entertainment or grotto experience would be an advantage, but is not essential. Most importantly, you'll need a genuine enthusiasm for creating magical moments and making every visitor feel welcome.

Why This Role is Special

As Santa, you'll meet hundreds of families throughout the festive season. We're looking for people who can remain cheerful, approachable and composed throughout each shift, including during those occasional tricky moments when excited children, busy parents and Christmas expectations all come together.

When You’ll Work

  • Wednesday 4 November
  • Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November
  • Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November
  • Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December
  • Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December
  • Saturday 19 to Thursday 24 December

You do not need to be available for every date, although good general availability is important. The experience will run during the day and into the evening, with shifts of between four and eight hours scheduled between 9.00am and 7.30pm
