The Opportunity
The Behavioral Scientist will apply advanced behavioral science, psychometrics, and quantitative/qualitative research methods to design, analyze, and interpret complex talent and employee experience data. This critical role ensures the delivery of scientifically rigorous insights that drive strategic talent decisions, workforce interventions, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and applying predictive and prescriptive modeling techniques.
- Collaborating closely with Talent Insights, Analytics, and Employee Listening teams.
- Ensuring strong scientific standards, scalable methodologies, and advanced modeling approaches are embedded in talent analytics and decision-making.
Essential Functions

Research Design & Execution
- Design and conduct applied organizational research using robust quantitative methodologies, including experimental, quasi-experimental, and longitudinal designs.
- Lead advanced analysis of employee listening, experience, and talent data using statistical programming languages (SQL, R, and/or Python).

Predictive & Prescriptive Analytics
- Apply techniques such as regression, multilevel modeling, machine learning, and optimization to address complex talent and workforce challenges.
- Develop and validate psychometric models, including scale development, factor analysis, reliability, validity, and measurement invariance testing.

Data Integration & Insights
- Integrate multi-source data (surveys, experience metrics, talent systems) to generate holistic, scientifically defensible insights.
- Translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Talent & Organizational Impact
- Support the design and evaluation of talent interventions, defining success metrics and evidence-based thresholds.
- Contribute to standardized research and analytics frameworks for consistency and scalability.
- Partner with Talent IT/data engineering teams and external vendors to ensure data structure, accessibility, and analytical readiness.

- Continuous Innovation

- Drive evidence-based organizational improvements in a globally competitive environment.
Analytical & Decision-Making Responsibilities
- Select and apply appropriate research designs and statistical methods to address business challenges.
- Recommend analytical strategies, modeling techniques, and interpretation standards while maintaining scientific rigor and strategic relevance.
- Analyze evidence strengths, clearly communicate limitations, and align recommendations with business priorities.
- Guide prioritization, design, and optimization of Talent Insights and Analytics initiatives.
Supervision & Coaching Responsibilities
- Subject Matter Expertise: Advise a trusted thought partner on research design, analytics execution, and interpretation.
- Collaborative Leadership: Informally coach and mentor colleagues on technical rigor and qualitative insights.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Ensure analytical excellence through collaboration with global teams.
- Trust-Building: Develop trusted relationships based on credibility, constructive challenge, and cultural alignment.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Behavioral & Organizational Expertise: Deep grounding in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or behavioral science.
- Methodological Mastery: Advanced knowledge of experimental design, causal inference, and statistical modeling.
- Psychometrics Proficiency: Strong ability to construct, validate, and apply measurement tools for research purposes.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced SQL, R, and/or Python for data manipulation, modeling, and analysis.
- Predictive & Prescriptive Analytics: Hands-on experience with machine learning, optimization, and large-scale modeling.
- Data Storytelling: Ability to interpret complex findings for non-technical stakeholders with compelling visual tools.
- Business Acumen: Perform holistic analysis that aligns research insights with talent/strategic initiatives.
- Adaptability: Operate independently in complex, ambiguous, high-paced environments and collaborate in global, matrixed teams.
- Multicultural Awareness: Thrive in diverse, global settings with clear verbal/written communication.

Job Requirements
Education
- Preferred: Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Behavioral Science, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline.
- Considered: Master’s degree with significant applied research experience.
Certification (Preferred but Not Mandatory)
- Professional certifications or active participation in relevant professional/academic networks.
Experience
- Conducted applied organizational research in a business/consulting/academic environment.
- Applied advanced statistical/machine learning techniques in real-world settings.
- Hands-on expertise in psychometric development and organizational assessment.
- Experience with large-scale employee listening/experience datasets.
- Proven ability to translate research insights into actionable strategy for HR/talent leaders.
- Collaborated with Talent, HR, or People teams to shape data-driven decisions.
- Operated effectively in global, matrixed, and fast-paced environments.
- Partnered with data engineering teams/external vendors to advance analytics.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range (U.S. locations): $92,600–$173,100 (varies by geography).
- New York City Metro/Washington State/California (non-Sacramento): $111,100–$188,900.
