Behaviour and Wellbeing Practitioner
Summergil School
Salary: £22,990.50 to £23,853.38
Contract: Full Time, Permanent, Term Time Only
Location: Summergil School, Powys

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour and Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about working with children and young people and committed to helping them overcome barriers to success. Working collaboratively with our education and therapeutic teams, you will help create positive outcomes for pupils through trauma-informed and relational approaches.
The Role
As a Behaviour And Wellbeing Practitioner, You Will:
- Support pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional, or wellbeing challenges.
- Respond effectively to incidents of distressed behaviour, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff.
- Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience, coping strategies, and positive relationships.
- Work alongside classroom teams to de-escalate situations and support successful re-engagement in learning.
- Model trauma-informed, therapeutic, and relational practices throughout the school.
- Coach and mentor colleagues in positive behaviour support and wellbeing strategies.
- Support the implementation and review of Positive Behaviour Support Plans and wellbeing interventions.
- Work closely with families, education professionals, and therapeutic teams to provide holistic support for pupils.
- Contribute to safeguarding and promote a positive, inclusive school culture.

About You
We are seeking someone who has:
Essential:
- Experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or similar behaviour frameworks.
- The ability to remain calm, empathetic, and solution-focused in challenging situations.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting colleagues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
Desirable:
- Experience working within a special school, residential, or alternative provision setting.
- Relevant qualifications such as Team Teach, MAPA, behaviour support training, or Teaching Assistant qualifications.

Additional Information
The successful candidate will be required to work across a variety of settings, including classrooms, communal areas, playgrounds, and off-site activities. A valid UK driving licence is therefore essential. Physical intervention may occasionally be required, with full training provided.
