About The Role
A Behaviour Mentor is needed at a specialist school in Birmingham, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This full-time position, offered through The Education Network Birmingham, pays £95 to £115 daily. The successful candidate will provide pastoral and behavioural guidance, helping young people overcome barriers to education, build positive relationships, and manage their conduct. Working closely with students who display challenging behaviour, the mentor will encourage greater engagement with learning. Applicants should possess experience supporting SEMH pupils, strong communication skills, and a calm, patient approach. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive team and make a genuine difference to students' lives.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may experience SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and difficulties engaging with education. The Behaviour Mentor will provide pastoral and behavioural support, helping students develop positive relationships, manage their behaviour, and engage more successfully with learning.
This Behaviour Mentor role would suit someone who is calm, patient, and resilient, with the confidence to build strong relationships with young people and manage challenging situations. Previous experience working as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, or within a SEND, SEMH, PRU, or Alternative Provision setting would be highly beneficial.

Job Role
- Working as a Behaviour Mentor supporting students with SEMH needs.
- Providing individual and small-group Behaviour Mentor support.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with students.
- Supporting students to manage their behaviour and emotions.
- Helping students to recognise and overcome barriers to learning.
- Supporting students to engage positively with lessons and school life.
- Managing challenging behaviour using a calm and consistent approach.
- Supporting students with their social and emotional development.
- Reinforcing positive behaviour, boundaries, and expectations.
- Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team.
- Supporting students who may struggle with attendance, engagement, or regulating their behaviour.
