Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Islington

Full Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start

Up to £125 per day | Long Term | Temp to Perm

Long Term Futures are recruiting an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a mainstream secondary school in Islington, supporting students across KS3 and KS4.

The school is looking for a confident Behaviour Mentor who can build strong relationships with young people displaying challenging behaviour, SEMH needs and barriers to learning. You will work both inside and outside the classroom, providing targeted support to improve behaviour, engagement, and attendance.

This is a long-term temp-to-perm opportunity, with an immediate start available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour interventions
  • Support students with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs
  • Work across KS3 and KS4
  • Support pupils within lessons and during periods of withdrawal
  • Use effective de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
  • Help students regulate emotions and re-engage with learning
  • Work closely with Heads of Year, teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Support improvements in behaviour, attendance, and engagement

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous Behaviour Mentor or behaviour support experience
  • Experience working with secondary-aged young people
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviour
  • Understanding of SEMH and additional needs
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, resilient, and consistent approach
  • Backgrounds in youth work, mentoring, pastoral support, PRU/AP, or SEN are welcomed
