Are you an experienced Behaviour Mentor, SEMH Teaching Assistant or Pastoral Support Worker looking for a rewarding temporary role supporting young people in Loughton, Essex?
Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist education setting in Loughton to find a dedicated and reliable professional to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is a full-time, temporary ongoing position, offering the opportunity to work within a supportive specialist environment where you can make a genuine difference to the lives and education of young people.
About The Role
You will provide targeted support to pupils who may require additional help with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour, engagement and learning.
Working alongside teachers and other members of the support team, you will help pupils develop positive behaviours, build confidence and overcome barriers that may have affected their experience of education.
Your Responsibilities May Include
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour
- Supporting engagement with learning and school activities
- Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Delivering mentoring and targeted interventions
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
- Working alongside teaching staff to implement individual support strategies
- Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging situations
- Encouraging positive communication, behaviour and participation
- Contributing to a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

About You
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
- A good understanding of positive behaviour support and effective intervention strategies
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs
- A calm, patient and resilient manner
- Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, pastoral support or a similar setting
- A genuine passion for helping young people make progress

Experience of working within a specialist school, alternative provision or SEMH setting would be particularly advantageous.
What We Offer
- £100-£110 per day, depending on experience
- Full-time temporary position
- Ongoing booking with no fixed end date
