Are you passionate about creating business impact with behavioural and decision science? Are you excited by the challenge of making AI work better for people and organisations? If so, this is a rare opportunity to shape how humans and AI collaborate at one of the world's leading reinsurance organisations.

About the role

In this role, you will write a new chapter in creating impact with behavioural science: optimising how humans and AI collaborate so that we deliver sustainable improvements in decision quality, productivity, and employee and client experience.

From day one, you will own projects and partner with AI product teams, business leads, UX/UI specialists, and other experts to solve practical human-AI challenges.

Your work could range from helping a team determine how to build appropriate user trust of AI outputs, to designing behavioural interventions that improve adoption, defining how human and AI performance should be measured, or developing scalable human-AI design guidance for use across L&H.

You will grow your expertise at the intersection of behavioural science, human-AI interaction, UX/UI, change management, and AI transformation, while benefiting from close collaboration with multidisciplinary experts across Swiss Re.

Swiss Re champions performance culture, inclusion, provides flexibility in working hours, and offers a competitive salary & benefits package.

Key responsibilities

Human-AI consulting, workflow design & adoption

  • Own end-to-end behavioural science and human-AI consulting projects, partnering with AI product teams and business owners across reimagination, MVP development, and scaling.
  • Structure ambiguous business questions, diagnose behavioural and organisational challenges, and apply behavioural science and human-centred design to shape effective human-AI workflows and drive sustained adoption and intelligent AI use.
  • Design interventions, helping users develop appropriate trust and understand when to rely on, challenge, or verify AI outputs.

Human-AI research, experimentation & success measurement

  • Translate behavioural science and human-AI research into practical recommendations and conduct primary research where needed.
  • Develop and test measures of overall human and AI performance, including decision quality, appropriate reliance, productivity, user experience, and business value, using qualitative and quantitative methods.

Scalable practices & dissemination of expertise

  • Translate project learnings into reusable human-AI principles, frameworks, tools, and guidelines for L&H and the wider Swiss Re Group.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert, facilitate multidisciplinary stakeholder engagement, contribute to internal publications, presentations, and prioritised external client engagements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the team

The Behavioural Research Unit (BRU) sits within the Life and Health (L&H) Reinsurance Chief Underwriting Office (CUO) – the heart of innovation and decision-making in Life and Health. The BRU works on a range of topics, including leveraging behavioural science to improve underwriting and claims outcomes, expert judgement and decision-making, and increasingly how people and AI work together.

We are looking for a well-rounded consultant with experience in behavioural science and/or human-AI collaboration design to join the BRU. You will help to translate research insights into practical and impactful solutions that improve how AI is designed, introduced, and used across L&H.

You will join a close-knit, international team working at the intersection of behavioural and decision science, AI transformation, and key functions like client management, underwriting, and claims.

About you

You are a well-rounded, intellectually curious professional who bridges the worlds of research and practice with ease. You bring a strong grounding in behavioural science and/or human-AI collaboration design, and you are energised by the challenge of translating complex evidence into solutions that deliver business impact. You are comfortable with ambiguity, confident working independently, and at your best when collaborating across disciplines and cultures.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements

  • An advanced degree (e.g. master's degree or PhD) in behavioural science, psychology, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, UX/user research, organisational psychology, or another relevant discipline.
  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant professional experience, for example in behavioural science consulting, innovation/R&D, human-centred design, change management, or AI transformation.
  • Familiarity with human-AI interaction and AI-enabled workflows, including topics such as trust and reliance, explainability/interpretability, human oversight, automation, user agency, or AI adoption.
  • Experience applying qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, such as interviews, observation, surveys, experiments, behavioural data analysis, or usability/user testing, and translating findings into practical recommendations.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or another complex or regulated industry would be advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to a wide range of stakeholders; additional languages are a plus.

Soft skills

  • Problem-solving and advisory skills: Able to structure ambiguous business problems, identify the underlying behavioural or human-AI challenges, and structure a pragmatic approach to solving them.
  • Confident communicator: Comfortable running workshops, presenting recommendations, and constructively challenging stakeholders.
  • Independent ownership: Able to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality projects with limited supervision.
