Role Description
The BEMS Commissioning Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Bristol Area, United Kingdom. The individual in this position will commission, test, and optimize Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) to ensure they operate efficiently, safely, and in line with project specifications.

Responsibilities

- Reviewing control panel layouts and wiring
- Checking input/output configurations
- Verifying software and graphics
- Carrying out functional testing of HVAC and associated plant
- Diagnosing system issues
- Making adjustments to control strategies
- Documenting commissioning results
- Preparing clear reports for customers and internal stakeholders
The role involves collaborating with project managers, designers, and site teams, attending client meetings when required, and ensuring all work adheres to relevant standards and health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of BEMS or building automation systems, including HVAC control principles, sensors, actuators, and control panels.
- Experience with commissioning activities such as software configuration, point-to-point testing, functional testing, and system optimization.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control strategies, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in fault-finding, diagnostics, and problem-solving on electrical and electronic control systems.
- Understanding of relevant UK standards, regulations, and health and safety practices for site-based engineering work.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, project managers, and site teams, and for producing clear commissioning reports.
- Capability to work independently on site, manage time and priorities, and adapt to changing project demands.
- Previous experience in building services, electrical engineering, or controls engineering; experience in the Greater Bristol or wider UK market is beneficial.
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or degree in electrical engineering, building services, or a related discipline) is preferred.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to customer sites within the region as required.
