We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Bench Kitchen Manager to support our restaurant operations across multiple locations. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and adaptable kitchen professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys making a real impact.

As a Bench Kitchen Manager, you will provide leadership and operational support wherever it is needed, covering vacancies, holidays, peak trading periods, new site openings, and business projects. You will play a key role in ensuring every kitchen delivers exceptional food quality, outstanding food safety standards, strong financial performance, and a positive working culture.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading Kitchen Operations

  • Taking responsibility for the smooth day-to-day operation of kitchens across multiple sites.
  • Ensuring food is prepared, cooked, and presented to company standards.
  • Driving consistency in quality, service, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Supporting kitchens to achieve operational and commercial targets.
  • Managing busy service periods while maintaining exceptional standards.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve performance and implementing solutions.

Food Preparation & Quality

  • Overseeing all aspects of food preparation and service.
  • Ensuring recipes, portion control, and presentation standards are consistently followed.
  • Conducting regular food quality checks.
  • Supporting menu rollouts and seasonal promotions.
  • Ensuring every guest receives a high-quality dining experience.

Stock Control & Cost Management

  • Managing food ordering and stock levels effectively.
  • Conducting regular stock counts and investigating discrepancies.
  • Monitoring food costs and reducing wastage.
  • Ensuring stock rotation procedures are followed.
  • Managing supplier deliveries and invoice checks.
  • Supporting kitchens in achieving food margin and profitability targets.
  • Maintaining accurate stock and purchasing records.

People Management & Team Development

  • Leading, motivating, and developing kitchen teams.
  • Providing coaching and support to chefs and kitchen staff.
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Managing performance and promoting a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Supporting succession planning and identifying future talent.
  • Building strong relationships with both kitchen and front-of-house teams.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensuring full compliance with food hygiene and safety legislation.
  • Maintaining excellent HACCP and allergen management practices.
  • Completing and monitoring food safety documentation.
  • Conducting kitchen audits and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Preparing sites for internal and external inspections.

Multi-Site Support

  • Providing temporary management cover where required.
  • Supporting underperforming locations to improve standards and results.
  • Assisting with new openings, training programmes, and operational projects.
  • Acting as a role model for company values and standards across all sites.

Essential Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Chef, Sous Chef, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of stock control, food cost management, and labour management.
  • Proven experience leading and developing kitchen teams.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and health & safety regulations.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Flexible approach with willingness to travel between sites.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to transport.

Desirable

  • Experience working across multiple locations or brands.
  • Level 3 Food Safety Qualification.
  • HACCP Qualification.
  • Leadership or Management qualification.
  • First Aid certification.
