About the Role

We are seeking a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Engineer to support the development, operation, and optimisation of grid-scale energy storage assets. This role involves acting as a technical specialist for BESS, SCADA and Power Plant Controller (PPC) systems, ensuring our assets operate safely, efficiently, and in line with project and grid requirements.

You will collaborate closely with project teams, operations & maintenance partners, commercial teams, and external suppliers to deliver robust technical solutions throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical expert for BESS, PPC and SCADA systems across operational assets.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to operations, commercial, and trading teams.
  • Troubleshoot issues with suppliers, SCADA partners, and O&M providers, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Lead or support fault diagnosis and root-cause analysis activities.
  • Monitor BESS performance via SCADA, RTM, and other platforms, identifying trends and optimisation opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategies that improve asset availability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance.
  • Support battery degradation modelling, condition assessments, and predictive maintenance planning.
  • Analyse technical and commercial performance data to support decision-making and warranty management.
  • Produce regular performance reports, KPIs, and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with suppliers and integrators to review technical specifications and system functionality.
  • Support project engineering reviews, design checks, and commissioning activities for BESS and SCADA systems.
  • Ensure designs meet relevant grid, regulatory, and technical standards.
  • Assist with technical specifications and supplier selection processes when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
