Bring your energy to Aggreko as a BESS Technician based in our Operations Team in our Widnes depot.

About the Role

As a BESS Technician, you are responsible for ensuring all fleet is made ready for hire, through turnarounds, repairs and maintenance. This includes any upgrades, retrofits and modifications to support customer requirements.

Power without pause. Heating, cooling and oil-free air without end. We keep our customers’ worlds on. From world-class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.

What you’ll do as a BESS Technician

  • Upon the return of any fleet asset, carry out a post-contract assessment to determine the level of work required and ensure the asset is assigned the correct status
  • Inspect, diagnose, and resolve faults, carrying out modifications or customisations to equipment in line with customer specifications where required
  • Perform maintenance and repair activities in accordance with company procedures and, where necessary, in consultation with approved suppliers
  • Provide technical and operational support to the wider business, with a particular focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), both remotely and on-site when required
  • Ensure all service appointments, records, and documentation are maintained accurately and up to date, including the completion of Field Service Logs (FSL) and ATA reports for each asset

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
