Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Best Start Inclusion Practice Manager to lead and develop our new Best Start Inclusion offer, helping to ensure that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the right support at the earliest opportunity. As a strategic and operational lead, you will manage a team of Best Start Inclusion Practitioners, driving high-quality, evidence-informed practice across Family Hubs, early years settings, family homes and community outreach services. This is an exciting opportunity to shape an innovative service that supports families and promotes the early identification of SEND, strengthens inclusion across the early years sector, and improves outcomes for children and families across Enfield.
About Enfield Council
At Enfield Council, our vision is simple: Be Bold, Make a Difference, Show You Care. We are committed to improving the lives of children, young people and families through high-quality, accessible services. Our Children’s Services, including Family Hubs, sit at the heart of this commitment, bringing together health, education, social care and early help services to provide coordinated support from pregnancy through to adulthood for young people with SEND. As part of our ambitious Best Start in Life programme, you will play a key role in building inclusive partnerships and communities, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive, learn and achieve their full potential.
About The Ideal Candidate
You will be a confident and inspiring leader with significant experience in SEND, early years inclusion, early help or a related service. You will have a strong understanding of child development from birth to five years, the SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, early identification processes and inclusive practice. Experience of leading teams, supervising practitioners, delivering interventions, supporting families and working collaboratively across health, education and social care is essential.
We are looking for someone who can influence practice, build strong partnerships and drive service improvement through the effective use of data, evidence and quality assurance. You will be an excellent communicator with a solution-focused approach, strong organisational skills and a commitment to supporting children and families from all backgrounds. A degree or equivalent relevant experience, together with evidence of continuous professional development in SEND, is required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
