Best Start Outreach Worker
Number of positions: 1
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term until 31/10/2027
Location: Family Hub based, working across hub network sites
We are excited to invite applications for the newly established role of Best Start Outreach Worker as part of the development of our Best Start Family Hubs programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to support families with babies and children aged 0-5 years, helping to ensure they can access the services, advice and support they need during their child's earliest and most important years of development. Working across Family Hub sites, community venues and family homes, Best Start Outreach Workers will play a vital role in engaging families who may be less likely to access support, building trusted relationships and helping children get the very best start in life.
The role sits at the heart of the Department for Education's Best Start Family Hubs programme and is centred on relationship-based practice, community engagement and early intervention. You will work directly with families with young children, providing information, advice and guidance, supporting families to identify their strengths and needs, and helping them to navigate and access the right support at the right time. This may include support relating to parenting, child development, health, education and wider family wellbeing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
