Job Title: Post 16 Physiotherapist / Sports Therapist
Department: Sports Participation
Reports to: Senior Manager – School Sport & Post-16
Responsible for: Supporting the health, wellbeing and physical performance of all players within the Post-16 Programme through injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and medical support, whilst working closely with the Head Coach and wider post-16 staff.
Salary: £20 p/h

General Trust Accountabilities

Main Purpose of Job
The Post-16 Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist will provide high-quality medical support to players across the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust Post-16 Programme. The role will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries, implementing injury prevention strategies, supporting player welfare and ensuring players are physically prepared to train and compete safely. The post holder will work closely with the Head Coach and coaching staff to manage player availability, promote best practice in sports medicine and contribute to a safe, professional and high-performance environment.
Responsibilities
- Attend all post-16 training sessions and Wednesday fixtures.
- Assess, diagnose and treat injuries sustained during training and matches.
- Deliver evidence-based rehabilitation programmes to support players returning to play.
- Design and implement injury prevention and prehabilitation programmes.
- Provide pitch-side emergency medical care during training and matches.
- Maintain accurate injury records, treatment notes and medical reports in line with HCPC/CSP/SST and FA guidance.
- Liaise with players, parents/carers, coaches and external healthcare professionals where appropriate.
- Advise coaching staff on player availability, training modifications and return-to-play decisions.
- Support the delivery of warm-ups, recovery strategies and player wellbeing initiatives.
- Ensure all medical equipment, first aid kits and treatment areas are maintained and fully stocked.
- Contribute to emergency action planning and risk assessments.
- Promote safeguarding and player welfare at all times.
- Attend Trust CPD, quality assurance and safeguarding training.
- Support injury audits, medical administration and any reporting required by the Trust.
- Contribute to raising the profile of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust's Post-16 Programme through professional medical support.

Selection Criteria
- Chartered Physiotherapist registered with the HCPC and CSP or Graduate Sports Therapist with full Society of Sports Therapists membership.
- Appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
- FA Emergency First Aid in Football (or willingness to obtain before starting).
- Advanced Emergency Aid qualification (minimum Level 4 ITMMIF or equivalent).
- FA Safeguarding Children qualification.
- Enhanced DBS check.
- Experience working within football or another sporting environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and player welfare.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Experience working with 16–19-year-old athletes.
- Previous experience within an academy or elite player development programme.
- Knowledge of FA medical guidelines.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office.
