BFI Film Academy Production Management Course
As part of the BFI Film Academy specialist course programme, applications are now open for our Production Management Course — an intensive, hands-on opportunity for aspiring film professionals aged 16 to 19 from across the UK.
BFI Film Academy Production Management course will welcome 32 talented young people from all over the UK who are passionate about pursuing careers within the production department of the film and television industries. Over 7 immersive days, learners will develop a solid understanding of the key roles and responsibilities involved in bringing a production to life through roles including producer, line producer, production manager, production coordinator, production assistant, location manager, and assistant director.
Learners will receive expert guidance from experienced film educators and industry mentors, working collaboratively in production teams to gain practical experience in vital areas such as location management, budgeting, scheduling, script breakdown, and health and safety protocols.

Our previous BFI Film Academy course participants have learnt from talent working on a diverse range of films and tv drama including Aftersun, Dunkirk, Slumdog Millionaire, The Angel’s Share, Children of Men, The Descent, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Girl with All the Gifts, I Daniel Blake, Macbeth, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Sunshine on Leith, Under the Skin, Star Wars, Justice League, Downton Abbey, Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror and Sherlock.

Post Course Support
Post course we'll connect the young people to opportunities with film and TV companies, documentary teams, and short filmmakers across the UK, focusing on the regions where our learners are based. The goal is to link them with real opportunities such as work experience, shadowing, training, or entry level roles. We understand that taking the first steps into the industry can be daunting, so we’re here to help build confidence and open doors, making those early connections more accessible for every learner.
