Role Overview
We're looking for a commercially minded BI Business Analyst to join us on a short-term, outcome-focused contract: sourcing, implementing, and standing up a BI reporting tool built on top of NetSuite to drive our revenue reporting.
Today, our revenue data lives in two places — historical figures held in spreadsheets, and ongoing activity in Hubspot and NetSuite. This role exists to bring that all together into a single, reliable BI layer. You'll select and implement a BI tool capable of sourcing historical revenue data from spreadsheets and, from go-live onward, sourcing revenue data directly from NetSuite. You will also assist with the design of the underlying structure within NetSuite itself — classes, segments, custom fields, saved searches, or equivalent — so that complete and accurate revenue data is captured at source and flows reliably into the BI tool without manual patching.
This is a focused, deliverable-driven engagement. You will own the project end-to-end over a 3–6 month period, from tool selection through to a working, documented, handed-over solution.
Key Responsibilities
BI Tool Selection & Implementation
- Assess the business's revenue reporting needs and recommend a BI tool suited to our data sources and existing software suite (NetSuite and M365), e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker.
- Own the end-to-end implementation of the chosen BI tool — procurement liaison, configuration, data connections, and roll-out.
- Build the data model and reporting logic that combines historical revenue data from spreadsheets with ongoing revenue data sourced directly from NetSuite.
- Build revenue dashboards and reports that give the Finance Director and senior leadership clear, actionable, trustworthy revenue insight, through a user-friendly interface which supports dynamic and agile reporting.
- Own data quality within the BI tool — validating outputs against NetSuite and spreadsheet source data and resolving discrepancies.
- Document data flows, tool configuration, and reporting logic so the solution can be run and maintained by the business after handover.
NetSuite Structure & Data Readiness
- Review the current NetSuite configuration as it relates to revenue — chart of accounts, classes, departments, items, and custom fields/segments.
- Design and the NetSuite structure needed to ensure revenue data is captured completely and accurately for BI consumption going forward (e.g. new segments, custom fields, saved searches, or transaction coding standards).
- Work with Finance, and NetSuite partner to implement the required changes without disrupting day-to-day use of the system.
- Define clear, practical data-entry standards and processes so revenue data quality is maintained in NetSuite after your engagement ends.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Historical Data Migration & Reconciliation
- Source, clean, and structure historical revenue data currently held across spreadsheets.
- Map historical spreadsheet data into the new BI data model so historical and current-period reporting are consistent and comparable.
- Reconcile spreadsheet-sourced historical data against NetSuite data for any overlapping periods to confirm a clean cutover point.
Stakeholder & Project Delivery
- Act as the primary point of contact for this project, working closely with the Finance Director and wider Finance team.
- Liaise with the BI tool vendor and any NetSuite administrator/partner to keep implementation on track.
- Provide regular progress updates against a clear plan for the 3–6 month contract window.
- Deliver full handover documentation and knowledge transfer ahead of contract completion, ensuring the business can operate and extend the solution independently.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience delivering short-term or fixed-term BI/systems projects as a contractor or consultant.
- Hands-on experience selecting, implementing, or administering a BI tool (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker) — able to demonstrate a tool you have set up and configured, not just used.
- Demonstrated experience bringing together data from multiple sources (e.g. an ERP system and spreadsheets) into a single, reliable reporting output.
- Strong Excel skills, sufficient to source, clean, and structure historical revenue data for migration into a BI model.
- Understanding of revenue data and reporting concepts, and how data structure and quality affect the reliability of business reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable translating technical data structures into clear outputs for non-technical stakeholders.
- A self-starter who can scope, plan, and deliver a defined project independently within a fixed timeframe.

Desirable
- Hands-on NetSuite experience, configuring or restructuring NetSuite specifically to support revenue reporting or GL/segment design.
- Experience with subscription, recurring, or churn-based revenue reporting.
- SQL or other data query skills.
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) — desirable but not required.
- Experience using AI tools to enhance financial analysis, modelling, or BI reporting workflows.
The Person We're Looking For
You are someone who can pick up a defined, business-critical project and drive it to completion without needing to be managed closely. You're comfortable being the person who chooses the tool, builds the structure, and owns the outcome.
You take pride in data accuracy and are not satisfied with a BI tool that simply displays numbers — you want to know the numbers underneath it are right, and you're willing to go into NetSuite itself to make sure they are. You document as you go, so that what you build can be picked up and run by others once your contract ends.
You're comfortable with ambiguity and with a short, focused timeframe — able to define scope where it isn't fully set, and confident enough to flag risks or push back when expectations are unrealistic for the time available.
