BI Engineer

Location: North West, hybrid working pattern

Employment type: Full time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

About The Role…

As a BI Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming data into meaningful insights that drive business decisions. You will design and maintain scalable data solutions, develop impactful Power BI reports and dashboards, and ensure data is accurate, secure, and accessible. Working closely with stakeholders and colleagues across the business, you will help deliver data-driven solutions, promote best practices, and support continuous improvement within the data and analytics function.

As a BI Engineer you will…

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data models, data warehouses, and data marts to support business intelligence and reporting requirements.
  • Create interactive and insightful Power BI reports and dashboards, leveraging data visualisation best practices, DAX, and Power Query (M language).
  • Develop and maintain data integration and ETL processes, ensuring efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading across multiple sources.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data and reporting incidents, applying strong debugging and problem-solving skills to maintain service reliability.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance through effective access controls, authentication, and authorisation practices.
  • Optimise the performance of reports, dashboards, and data models by improving queries, refresh schedules, and overall solution efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders and graduates within the team, sharing knowledge, promoting best practices, providing support and training, and driving adoption of BI solutions.

About You…

We're looking for a proactive and motivated individual with a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience). You'll have a basic understanding of Python, SQL, Power BI, DAX, and Power Query (M Language), alongside strong communication skills and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, collaborate effectively with others, and take ownership of delivering high-quality data and reporting solutions.
