About The Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Developer to join our client’s dynamic data team in Wakefield. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a growing organization at an exciting stage of its data journey. The successful candidate will work closely with the BI Manager to develop and enhance a central SQL Server data warehouse and modern reporting platform. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about building comprehensive data solutions rather than just consuming reports. You will have the chance to engage in the full BI development lifecycle, from data integration and transformation to delivering insightful Power BI reports that inform strategic business decisions.
The role is based in Wakefield with a hybrid working model, requiring three days onsite and two days remote each week. The package includes a salary of approximately £45,000 along with a range of benefits designed to support your professional growth and wellbeing. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience working within a BI, SQL Development, or Data Engineering environment. You should possess a solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL querying, transformations, and database development. Experience with building or maintaining ETL processes is advantageous, with familiarity in tools such as SSIS being a plus but not mandatory. Strong Power BI skills are essential, particularly in data modelling, Power Query, and DAX calculations. Candidates should have experience developing end-to-end data solutions across the entire BI lifecycle, not limited to report creation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders are crucial for success in this role. A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for leveraging data to solve business problems are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain a scalable SQL Server data warehouse to support reporting and analytics needs.
- Create and optimise complex T-SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.
- Build and manage ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple source systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Design semantic data models and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to stakeholder requirements.
- Create DAX measures and calculations that provide meaningful insights and support decision-making processes.
- Engage directly with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate these into technical solutions.
- Support the adoption of Power BI across the organization by providing training, guidance, and best practices.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the organization’s BI strategy and data platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
