Business Intelligence & Visualisation Lead

12-Month FTC (Maternity Cover)
Remote (4x a year Birmingham or London)
I'm hiring a Business Intelligence & Visualisation Lead for a nationally recognised organisation at the heart of the UK's tourism industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced BI professional to take ownership of reporting, dashboarding, and self-service analytics across the business, supporting stakeholders with the data and insight they need to make informed decisions.
The Role
You'll be the sole BI specialist within the Data & Analytics team, responsible for maintaining and developing the organisation's reporting capability during a major period of data transformation.
Working closely with the Head of Data & Analytics, Analytics Lead, Data Engineer, and Business Analyst, you'll play a critical role in ensuring reporting continuity while continuing to develop modern self-service analytics capabilities.

- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Build and improve self-service analytics capability across the organisation.
- Create robust reporting solutions that support evidence-based decision-making.
- Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, scalable, and user-friendly.
Data Modelling & Engineering
- Develop and maintain semantic layers and reporting views.
- Write SQL and DAX to support reporting requirements.
- Work with Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric environments.
- Support the transition away from an external data transformation partner.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Gather requirements from stakeholders across the organisation.
- Translate business needs into effective reporting solutions.
- Present data and insight in an accessible, actionable format.
- Manage expectations around reporting priorities and delivery.
Governance & Delivery
- Maintain reporting documentation and standards.
- Ensure GDPR and data governance compliance.
- Contribute to agile sprint delivery and roadmap planning.
- Identify risks, blockers, and data quality issues proactively.
What They're Looking For
Essential
- Significant experience in BI, reporting, or analytics roles.
- Strong Power BI experience.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Experience with Azure Databricks.
- Experience developing semantic layers and reporting models.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering skills.
- Experience operating in agile or sprint-based environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

- Python experience.
- Jira experience.
- Experience with AI-assisted analytics tools such as Power BI Copilot or Databricks Genie.
