Job Purpose Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced BI / Reporting Specialist to join CMS in order to support the BI/ Reporting Strategy for the organisation. You will be able to plan, deliver and govern the data and information provision for a leading specialist Distributor of business and consumer technologies. You will work closely with the Head of Data, Information Manager, and other managers to support new and existing projects, as well as deliver high service levels to the business through operational excellence.
Role Responsibilities
- Work with Head of Data and the Information Systems (IS) manager to define and execute strategic objectives for IS department
- Develop and maintain Qlik applications: Build dashboards, reports, and interactive visualisations using QlikView or Qlik Sense to support business decision-making
- Data modelling and transformation: Write load scripts, create associations between tables, and design data models to ensure accurate and efficient data representation
- Business requirements analysis: Gather and translate business needs into technical specifications, ensuring applications meet user and organisational goals
- Data quality and validation: Conduct tests, troubleshoot issues, and perform quality assurance to maintain data integrity
- Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, finance teams, operations leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and usability
- Performance optimisation: Tune applications for speed and efficiency, manage Qlik environment security, and document all developed applications
- End-user support: Provide training, troubleshooting, and guidance to ensure effective use of BI applications
- Develop and maintain relationships with third party suppliers

Skills & Personal Attributes
Essential Skills & Abilities:
- Prior experience in BI development, Qlik application development, or similar analytics roles is essential
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex data analysis, interpret results, and provide actionable insights with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong knowledge of database design and dimensional modelling
- Confidence to maintain protocols in the face of business demand for ‘instant’ deliverables
- Confidence to have difficult conversations and ability to backup decision making with evidence reasoning
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Degrees in information systems, computer science, statistics, business, finance, or related fields are beneficial but not always required
Desirable Skills & Abilities:
- Experience in many of the following areas:
- Analytics platforms - QlikView /Qlik Sense; PowerBI; Tableau
- ERP Systems – SAP ECC, SAP S/4Hana
- Application development - Python; Javascript
- Database technologies – MS SQL; MySQL; Oracle, Snowflake
- Cloud computing –AWS; Azure; Google Cloud, Databricks

- You should also have a commercial mindset, which enables you to interpret the Return on Investment of the tasks and projects that the team undertakes. A keenness to learn and develop yourself, the role and other members of the team is vital.
- You may be required to travel to and spend several days at any of the company offices in the UK and Europe.
- Most of all you must be passionate about data, business intelligence, automation, customer service and how the provision of information can be a strategic advantage for an organisation.
