Job Description

About Us

John Wood’s Cycle Repair Centre is one of Bristol’s oldest and most established independent bike shops, with a long-standing reputation for honest advice, quality workmanship and great customer service.

We’re a busy, well-equipped workshop working on everything from everyday commuter bikes and family bikes through to high-end road, gravel, mountain and e-bikes. We stock some of the best brands in the industry and take pride in providing a high standard of work to match.

We’re looking for an experienced Bicycle Mechanic to join our friendly and knowledgeable team.

The Role

Working alongside our experienced mechanics, you’ll be carrying out a wide range of workshop duties, including:

  • Full bike servicing and safety checks
  • Repairs, maintenance and fault finding
  • Gear and brake adjustment
  • Hydraulic brake servicing
  • Drivetrain replacement and setup
  • Wheel building, truing and repairs
  • Headset, bottom bracket and bearing replacement
  • Suspension servicing and maintenance
  • E-bike diagnostics and servicing where appropriate
  • Building and preparing new bikes
  • Providing professional advice to customers when required

No two days are quite the same, and the role will suit someone who enjoys working on a variety of bikes and solving mechanical problems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
