Location: Head Office, Houghton-le-Spring (Hybrid working available)
Position Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE

About Us

At Direct Global, we believe in building strong relationships, delivering high-quality solutions, and enjoying the work we do. As a recognised leader in the UK energy sector, we’re known for our data-driven innovation, commitment to excellence, and collaborative team culture that supports both personal and professional growth.

The Role

As a Bid Writer, you will play a key role in developing high-quality, compelling and commercially focused bids and tenders that support the continued growth of Direct Global. You will take ownership of the bid writing process from initial review of tender requirements through to submission, working closely with internal teams to gather information, develop compelling responses and ensure submissions are accurate, professional and aligned with the requirements of each opportunity.

This is a role that requires excellent written communication, exceptional attention to detail, strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand complex information and turn it into clear, engaging and persuasive content.

You will be responsible for managing multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring every submission is completed to a consistently high standard and within the required timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end bid writing process, from reviewing tender documentation through to final submission.
  • Review and analyse tender and bid requirements, identifying key criteria, deadlines, evaluation methodology and required supporting information.
  • Develop clear, compelling and persuasive written responses that directly address client requirements.
  • Work closely with internal teams to gather relevant information, evidence, data and supporting content.
  • Translate complex commercial, operational and technical information into clear and engaging bid responses.
  • Ensure all bid content is accurate, relevant, consistent and tailored to the specific requirements of each client or opportunity.
  • Develop and maintain a library of high-quality bid content, case studies, company information and supporting materials.
  • Coordinate contributions from multiple stakeholders, ensuring information is received accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Challenge and improve information provided by internal stakeholders to ensure responses are compelling and commercially focused.
  • Ensure all submissions follow agreed bid structures, templates, branding and quality standards.
  • Proofread and quality-check bid submissions, identifying grammatical, formatting, factual and content errors before submission.
  • Manage multiple bids, tenders and deadlines simultaneously, prioritising workload effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of current and completed bids, including deadlines, outcomes and key information.
  • Work with commercial and operational teams to understand our services, capabilities, USPs and value proposition.
  • Research prospective clients, markets and opportunities to ensure bid responses are relevant and well informed.
  • Review successful and unsuccessful bids, identifying lessons learned and opportunities to continuously improve future submissions.
  • Support the development of presentations, proposals, executive summaries and other sales and marketing materials where required.
  • Ensure all bid documentation is handled confidentially and in line with GDPR and company policies.
  • Support ad-hoc projects and requests as required, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
