Bid Manager
Start Date: ASAP
Permanent | £42,417 per annum
Location: Milton Keynes
We’re partnering with an established, public sector-focused organisation to appoint an experienced Bid Manager within its commercial and customer strategy function.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded bid professional to take ownership of complex customer proposals, working across multidisciplinary teams to secure new business and renewals. You’ll coordinate input from subject matter experts, manage proposals through costing and approval, and ensure every submission is accurate, compliant and commercially robust.
The Opportunity
As Bid Manager, you’ll manage the end-to-end delivery of assigned proposals, translating complex customer requirements into clear and compelling submissions.
- Working closely with customers, commercial teams, relationship managers, and technical specialists, you’ll establish requirements, coordinate contributions, and maintain momentum throughout the bid lifecycle.
- You’ll combine strong writing and project management skills with commercial judgement, ensuring proposals demonstrate value while appropriately managing delivery, financial, and contractual risk.
- You’ll also contribute to the continuous improvement of bid processes, documentation, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll play a central role in the successful delivery of bids and proposals by:
- Managing proposals from initial customer brief through to final submission.
- Working with customers to clarify their requirements, priorities, and critical decision criteria.
- Developing structured bid plans, managing contributors, and monitoring key milestones.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary bid teams and subject matter experts.
- Obtaining accurate product or service costings, pricing information, and delivery timescales.
- Producing concise, accurate, and compelling customer-facing proposals.
- Ensuring submissions clearly communicate value and respond directly to customer requirements.
- Quality-assuring commercial, pricing, and delivery information before submission.
- Identifying financial, legal, operational, delivery, and intellectual-property risks.
- Coordinating internal governance, reviews, and approvals.
- Providing clear and timely progress updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records covering bids, opportunities, and material changes.
- Developing templates, checklists, and processes that improve bid quality and efficiency.

About You
You’ll have recent experience in bid, sales, or commercial management, with strong knowledge of proposals, pricing, tendering, and contracts.
You will also have:
- Experience managing complex bids or proposals from development through to submission.
- A strong track record of producing high-quality commercial and technical documentation.
- Experience working directly with customers to understand requirements and manage expectations.
- The ability to interpret, challenge, and simplify detailed or technical information.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of risk, governance, and approvals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to influence and coordinate stakeholders across different functions and levels.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- A collaborative, adaptable, and detail-focused approach.
- Experience maintaining accurate opportunity or bid information within a CRM system.

Experience supplying public sector organizations, applying project or risk management principles, or working across areas such as construction, estates, logistics, facilities management, ICT, or professional services would be advantageous. Knowledge of NEC4 principles and contracts would also be beneficial.
