Bid Manager

Location – Rochdale (Northern Hub) or London (Southern Hub) – Hybrid. 2/3 days in office

Are you an experienced Bid Manager with a proven track record of producing successful tenders, proposals, and presentations? Do you thrive under pressure, enjoy collaborating with stakeholders across a business, and have a passion for creating compelling, high-quality submissions?

Marston Holdings are looking for a talented Bid Manager to join our Commercial Business Development team. Reporting to the Head of Bids, you will play a key role in securing new business opportunities across our Transportation division, which delivers services to local and central government, utilities, energy providers, and the legal sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading organisation and contribute to the growth of a diverse and expanding business.

What you’ll be doing:

As Bid Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of high-quality bid submissions, ensuring all responses are compelling, compliant, and submitted on time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and producing high-quality tender, proposal, and presentation responses.
  • Building strong relationships with subject matter experts across the business.
  • Ensuring all bid activity follows the Marston Bid Management Process.
  • Managing bid documentation and maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Identifying and mitigating bid-related risks.
  • Driving continuous improvement through client feedback and market insight.
  • Maintaining and developing the bid content library.
  • Recording and managing bid activity through CRM and reporting systems.
  • Supporting team operations and deputising for the Bid Executive when required.

What we’re looking for:

Essential: We're seeking a proactive, organised, and results-driven individual with excellent communication skills and a strong background in bid management.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing and writing successful bid submissions, including:
    • Selection Questionnaires (SQs)
    • Tenders
    • Proposals
    • Presentations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
  • Calm and professional approach in demanding situations.

Desirable:

  • Degree-level education.
  • Experience bidding within both public and private sector environments.
