Role Overview
Our client is a leader within the European energy industry and they are looking to strengthen their sales pipeline by engaging an experienced Bid Manager. Reporting to the Business Development Director, the Bid Manager will lead, manage and coordinate all aspects of preparing and submitting high-quality, competitive bids for energy infrastructure and engineering projects. You will be responsible for ensuring all tender submissions are delivered on time, to the highest professional standards, and aligned with the company's strategic and commercial objectives.
Working closely with the estimating, engineering and technical teams, you will ensure accurate cost estimates, resource plans, project schedules and delivery methodologies are incorporated into bid and proposal submissions. You will develop and implement winning bid strategies in collaboration with senior management, maximising the successful conversion of profitable opportunities while ensuring all commercial, technical and contractual requirements are fully addressed.
Working alongside the Commercial Director, you will ensure contractual positions, commercial risks and project objectives are effectively managed throughout the bid process. You will establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, partners and the wider bid team, developing a clear understanding of client requirements and project drivers.
The Bid Manager will be responsible for managing bid budgets, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and leading customer presentations, clarification meetings and negotiations to secure new business. The role will also represent the company and support it's continued growth within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, management and continuous improvement of the company's bid management processes.
- Manage and coordinate the tendering and estimating team throughout the full bid lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain bid management plans to ensure all governance reviews, internal approvals and submission deadlines are achieved.
- Coordinate technical, commercial, financial, legal and HSEQ contributions to bid submissions.
- Support the evaluation and selection of strategic suppliers, subcontractors and delivery partners.
- Liaise with supply chain partners to develop competitive, innovative and technically robust bid solutions.
- Ensure all bids are fully compliant with client requirements, tender documentation and company governance procedures.
- Develop, maintain and continually improve the company's bid library, templates and standard documentation.
- Lead the development and maintenance of project risk registers, facilitating risk identification, mitigation planning and sensitivity analysis throughout the bid process.
- Manage document control, including tender correspondence, clarification registers and submission records.
- Record and distribute minutes from bid reviews, client meetings and internal governance sessions.
- Coordinate approval gate reviews and obtain executive approval prior to bid submission.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of customer presentations, technical workshops and clarification meetings.
- Manage the effective handover of successful bids to project delivery teams, ensuring a seamless transition from sales to execution.
- Support Business Development by representing the company at client meetings, industry conferences and networking events, showcasing the organisation's energy capabilities, technical expertise and project experience.
- Monitor bid performance, capture lessons learned and implement continuous improvements to increase bid quality, efficiency and overall win rates.

Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Bid Manager or in a senior bid, proposal or tender management role within the energy, utilities, engineering, infrastructure or EPC sectors.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience interpreting contract terms and managing commercial risk.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple complex bids simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written communication, presentation and proposal development skills.
- Experience working closely with estimating, engineering, commercial and project delivery functions.
- Strong relationship-building skills with customers, partners and supply chain organisations.
- Knowledge of the energy industry (Oil/Gas/Offshore/Renewables), power generation, utilities, transmission and distribution, or wider energy infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
