Bid Manager

Kraken is a growing technology company delivering advanced maritime autonomy, robotics and defence solutions. We're looking for an experienced Bid Manager to lead winning proposals across our defence, maritime and technology markets.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing teams together, shaping winning strategies and turning complex technical solutions into compelling customer proposals.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading bids and proposals from opportunity qualification through to submission and contract handover.
  • Monitoring tender portals and identifying suitable opportunities.
  • Developing bid plans, compliance matrices and submission schedules.
  • Coordinating technical, commercial, programme and finance contributors.
  • Writing and editing high-quality, customer-focused proposal content.
  • Developing win themes and clear value propositions.
  • Managing bid risks, clarifications and approval processes.
  • Ensuring submissions are compliant, commercially sound and delivered on time.
  • Supporting post-submission activities and capturing lessons learned.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience managing complex bids within engineering, technology, defence or other regulated sectors.
  • Experience responding to UK Government, MOD or public-sector procurements.
  • Strong proposal writing and document management skills.
  • Excellent organisation and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable

  • Experience within maritime, defence, robotics, autonomy or unmanned systems.
  • Knowledge of MOD contracting and defence procurement processes.
  • APMP, Shipley or similar bid management qualifications.
  • Experience working with procurement portals and bid-management systems.
