I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
No two days are the same. One day you might be analysing service data and developing budgets, the next writing a tender response, and the next working with colleagues to design services for future communities.
About you
We recognise that great candidates may come from different backgrounds.
Bring either the sector knowledge or the bid writing expertise - we'll help you develop the rest.
You might already be an experienced bid writer, proposal writer or business development professional looking to move into a values-led organisation.
Alternatively, you might be a manager or senior practitioner within social care, housing or support services who understands the sector and is ready to develop specialist bid writing and business development skills – this is not a sales role.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Experience of researching, writing or supporting tender and bid submissions or management experience within a social care setting.
- Experience or knowledge of housing, social care, public sector commissioning, business development or similar environments
- A strong understanding of services that support vulnerable adults and sustainable communities
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to produce high-quality documents
- Strong numeracy, IT and analytical skills
- The ability to organise information, manage deadlines and balance competing priorities
- Confidence building relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
