About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bid Writer to join an established and award-winning construction and civil engineering organization with operations across the UK. The business delivers a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, educational, and infrastructure projects, with a strong reputation for quality, safety, sustainability, and client satisfaction. As Bid Writer, you will play a key role within the wider work-winning team, taking ownership of bid content from the early PQQ stage through to final tender submission. Working closely with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and external consultants, you will develop compelling, accurate, and client-focused proposals that help secure new business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bid Writer who enjoys working collaboratively, has a strong understanding of the construction industry, and can turn complex information into clear, engaging, and persuasive bid content.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years' experience in preparing high-quality PQQs, tenders, and proposal submissions within the construction or civil engineering sector. A third-level qualification in construction, engineering, business, communications, or a related discipline is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate proven experience managing complex bids from initial opportunity assessment through to final submission. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Experience working within a construction or civil engineering contractor environment and preparing client presentations is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and bid management software is required. The ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment is crucial.

Responsibilities
- Develop clear win strategies, bid plans, and answer plans for PQQ and tender submissions to align with client requirements and evaluation criteria.
- Review PQQ and tender documentation to understand client needs, submission guidelines, and project specifications.
- Lead and coordinate assigned bids from initial planning stages through to final submission, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Organize bid kick-off meetings, establish submission timelines, and coordinate contributions from internal teams and external consultants to ensure cohesive responses.
- Research clients, projects, and industry standards to support well-informed and competitive proposals.
- Write, edit, and review bespoke tender responses that are clear, concise, engaging, and tailored to client expectations.
- Collaborate with technical, operational, and commercial teams to develop robust methodologies, technical content, and project narratives.
- Identify and incorporate relevant project experience, case studies, evidence, and supporting information to strengthen proposals.
- Prepare high-quality presentation materials for client interviews and presentations, and attend these meetings as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bid information within company systems and bid management tools.
- Visit project sites and work closely with site teams to gather information and develop compelling case studies and project content.
- Capture feedback from completed bids to continuously improve bid processes, templates, and best practices.
- Support the wider work-winning team with additional duties as required, contributing to overall business growth and success.
