About the Role

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Bid Writer to join our London office— a mid-weight-level opportunity for a confident, proactive thinker and writer to take ownership of key bids and turn complex technical information into develop clear, well structured, and persuasive proposals.

This role will suit an experienced professional with a background in bids and proposals, who is not only a talented writer, but also an influential collaborator to work closely with colleagues across Ridge, understand the ethos of our business, and translate our values, culture, and technical strengths into tangible written content. You should be able to communicate what makes Ridge distinctive in a clear, credible, and client focused way.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and write compelling bids. Develop clear, concise and tailored responses ensuring they align with client requirements and objectives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders. Work closely with technical experts and senior leaders to gather relevant information for bid submissions.
  • Create structured and persuasive responses. Ensure answers are well structured, easy to read and understand, highlighting Ridge’s key strengths and what makes us different.
  • Conduct research and gather information from a wide range of sources, writing from scratch or editing material as appropriate.
  • Facilitate win themes, storyboarding and answer planning.
  • Proofread and edit. Review bid content to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with client requirements, as well as correct style and grammar.
  • Converting knowledge from operational staff by conducting 1 to 1 interviews.
  • Develop case studies and examples. Create and update project experience, case studies and testimonials that demonstrate past success and expertise.
  • Compliance. Ensure that all bids meet legal, contractual and client specific requirements.
  • Prepare presentation materials. Assist in preparing presentation documents or slides for presentations where required.
  • Work with graphic designers to produce appropriate graphics that enhance the response.
  • Track feedback. Review feedback on bid success or failure and suggest improvements for future proposals.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience in a bid writing role.
  • A passion for writing and a flair for communication complex ideas. Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Exemplar writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative, team focused approach, with the ability to work well with colleagues across different disciplines
  • Understanding of construction, engineering or related sectors would be advantageous.

Qualifications And Tools

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word (required)
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and graphic design processes (desirable)
