The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Bid Writer to join Serco’s UK & Europe Growth function and play a key role in developing compelling, customer-focused responses that help us win new business.

Working across bids for our Justice & Immigration, Citizen Services and Defence businesses, you’ll take ownership of assigned written responses from ITT release through to final submission. You’ll work closely with Solutions Leads, Workstream Leads, subject matter experts and Bid Managers to turn complex information into clear, persuasive and compliant proposals.

This is an opportunity to bring your bid writing expertise into a collaborative, high-performing team, with exposure to complex and strategically important opportunities across Serco.

What you’ll be doing

  • Taking ownership of assigned written responses throughout the bid lifecycle, from storyboarding and drafting through to final submission.
  • Developing compelling, customer-focused responses designed to maximise quality scores against evaluation criteria.
  • Analysing customer specifications, ITT documentation and instructions to identify key requirements and ensure responses are fully compliant.
  • Working closely with Solutions Leads, Workstream Leads and SMEs to gather information, challenge constructively and articulate Serco’s right to win.
  • Understanding the customer’s perspective, including their requirements, challenges, opportunities and expectations around quality, deliverables and value for money.
  • Applying Serco’s bid writing best practice and Playbook throughout the response development process.
  • Participating in robust review and peer-review processes to improve the quality and effectiveness of bid responses.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of proposal management and bid writing best practice.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement activity across Bid Writing, including case study development, Bid Library improvements and shared learning.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
