Help Us Win the Projects That Shape Communities
Wates Construction is looking for a talented Bid Writer to join our growing work-winning team based at Think Park, Manchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and detail-focused writer who can transform technical information into compelling bid submissions that help secure major construction projects across the UK. Working alongside Bid Managers, Pre-Construction teams and operational experts, you'll play a key role in developing winning proposals that showcase our expertise, innovation and commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for our customers.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the written content within bid submissions and support the delivery of high-quality tender responses from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Producing engaging, customer-focused bid responses and quality submissions.
- Working closely with Bid Managers and subject matter experts to develop compelling win themes.
- Ensuring all submissions are completed accurately and on time.
- Reviewing and improving content for clarity, consistency and impact.
- Managing and developing a library of bid content and best practice responses.
- Supporting tender launch meetings and coordinating the flow of information between stakeholders.
- Creating customer-specific submissions that stand out from the competition.
- Assisting with presentations, case studies, marketing collateral and pre-construction communications where required.

You may already be a Bid Writer, Proposals Writer, Marketing Executive or Communications professional looking to develop your career within a leading construction business.

We're Looking For
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- The ability to turn technical information into clear, persuasive content.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders or proposals within construction, engineering, professional services or a similar environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A collaborative approach, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for producing high-quality work.
