About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bid Writer to join an established and award-winning construction and civil engineering organisation with operations across the UK.
The business delivers a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, educational, and infrastructure projects, with a strong reputation for quality, safety, sustainability, and client satisfaction.
As Bid Writer, you will play a key role within the wider work-winning team, taking ownership of bid content from the early PQQ stage through to final tender submission. Working closely with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and external consultants, you will develop compelling, accurate, and client-focused proposals that help secure new business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bid Writer who enjoys working collaboratively, has a strong understanding of the construction industry, and can turn complex information into clear, engaging, and persuasive bid content.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience in preparing high-quality PQQs, tenders, and proposal submissions within the construction or civil engineering sectors. A third-level qualification in construction, engineering, business, communications, or a related discipline is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of managing complex bids from initial opportunity identification through to final submission. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Familiarity with bid management software and Microsoft Office tools is required, and experience working within a construction or civil engineering contractor environment will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Develop clear win strategies, bid plans, and answer plans for PQQ and tender submissions.
- Review PQQ and tender documentation to understand client requirements, evaluation criteria, and submission guidelines.
- Lead and coordinate assigned bids from initial planning stages through to final submission, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Organize bid kick-off meetings, establish submission timelines, and coordinate contributions from internal teams and external consultants.
- Conduct research on clients, projects, and industry trends to support competitive and well-informed submissions.
- Draft, edit, and review high-quality, bespoke tender responses that are clear, concise, and aligned with client needs.
- Collaborate with technical, operational, and commercial teams to develop robust methodologies, technical content, and project narratives.
- Identify and incorporate relevant project experience, case studies, evidence, and supporting information into proposals.
- Prepare compelling presentation materials and participate in client interviews or presentations when required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bid information within company systems and bid management software.
- Visit project sites and collaborate with site teams to gather information and develop engaging case studies and project content.
- Capture feedback from completed bids and contribute to the continuous improvement of bid processes, templates, and best practices.
- Support the wider work-winning team with other relevant duties to enhance overall bid success rates.
