Working with a broad range of clients—including Local Authorities, Network Rail, energy providers, and environmental organisations—you'll be part of a vibrant, collaborative environment focused on delivering excellence.
The Role
As a Bid Writer, you will be a key contributor to our business development efforts, responsible for producing high-quality, persuasive written content for a variety of bid documents. Your work will involve close collaboration with technical experts, project managers, and senior stakeholders to craft tailored responses that meet client requirements and showcase our capabilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing compelling proposals for Market Engagement Questionnaires (MEQs), Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), Invitations to Tender (ITTs), and other procurement documents
- Managing and coordinating written responses to client inquiries and expressions of interest
- Crafting answer plans and proposal strategies to address client objectives
- Reviewing tender documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Editing and reviewing templates such as answer responses, CVs, and organisation charts
- Ensuring compliance with client requirements and internal procedures
- Attending bid meetings and supporting the bid team throughout the process
- Monitoring feedback and post-tender analysis to improve future submissions
- Collaborating on bid strategy development and supporting marketing initiatives

What We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for an experienced Bid Writer or a highly skilled individual with a background in proposal development. We also welcome applications from recent graduates with strong writing skills, or professionals transitioning from roles such as journalism or communications.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Degree-level education or equivalent
- Exceptional written communication, editing, and proofreading skills
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging narratives
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proven experience in proposal writing within the construction or engineering sectors (or related fields) – desirable but not essential
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners
